Description of How It Works

These hammers repeatedly impact the biomass material, breaking it down into smaller particles. The size of the final biomass particles can be controlled by adjusting the clearance between the hammers and the screen or grate at the bottom of the grinding chamber.

Screening : After the biomass material is reduced to the desired size, it passes through a screen or grate at the bottom of the hammer mill. This screen helps to control the particle size of the resulting material. Larger particles that do not pass through the screen are recirculated for further grinding.

Collection and Transport : The finely ground biomass material is then collected and transported for further processing, which may include combustion in a boiler to produce steam for electricity generation or conversion into biofuels such as pellets or briquettes.
